Disability Services
Students with physical disabilities, learning difficulties (for example dyslexia), neurodevelopmental disorders (for example ADHD, autism), or chronic illnesses that might affect their learning, have a right to certain accommodation in their studies and exams.
The University's Student Counseling Centre (UISCC) manages this service.
In order to receive accommodation in exams, extended time for example, a student must provide a medical document and send an application in Ugla. The deadline to apply for accommodation is 1 October for the autumn semester and 1 March for the spring semester. You can book an appointment here and/or send requests about disability services via urraedi[at]hi.is.
Information for teachers
Accommodation in studies and exams is a collaboration between students, student counsellors, the Examination Office and teachers. A student must request accommodation and have a special agreement with Student Counseling. The UISCC ensures that the Examination Office receives information on a student's accommodation for final exams. Teachers are responsible for ensuring that accommodation is in place in accordance with a student's agreement in exams under their supervision.
It can be helpful for teachers to have a look at the information that the UISCC provides regarding accommodation for students, as well as information from the Examination Office regarding exams that are managed by faculty members.
